We have been organizing for over a year in order to empower the undocumented community in our state. During this time, we have been working on mentoring undocumented youth and connecting them to resources to help them attend college by hosting College 101 workshops. We  also seek to inform our community of their rights by holding Know Your Rights trainings in different areas. Our organization believes in direct action and many of our members have also participated in acts of civil disobedience across the country and in Philadelphia. We advocate for the Pennsylvania DREAM Act and will continue to fight for equal access to education for all youth.

All of this work is done by undocumented youth, who volunteer our time and energy to fight for an issue that is extremely important to us and our community. We know that, as undocumented youth, we need to be at the forefront of the struggle for immigrant rights. But we cannot do this alone. We need your support so we can continue to empower and bring awareness to our community.

Have some fun and be a part of this convergence of communities.

We hope to see you there!

Update: Tania and Jessica Released. Miguel Still Detained!

Tania and Jessica were released from the Philadelphia Police Headquarters this afternoon. ICE did not get involved, because they know both of them have the support from the community.
However, Miguel is still detained at York County Jail and needs our help!

Please do the following:

1. Sign Miguel’s Petition: Urge ICE to let him go!

2. Call ICE at 202.732.3000 and demand that Miguel is released!

Sample Script: “Hi I was calling to ask that Miguel (A# 094-320-156) be reunited with his family. His fiancee just gave birth to the family’s second baby and she wants nothing more than to be reunited with Miguel so they can raise their two sons together. Let Miguel out.”

3. Share the petition with your friends on Facebook/Twitter!

“It’s not fair. We are out but Miguel is still away from his family. We need to take a stand and come out together, for Miguel and our community.” – Tania.

“We know that people that are not out of the shadows, like Miguel, are still detained. We need to fight together, out of the shadows.” – Jessica.

Two Undocumented Youth Arrested Yesterday Have Court Hearing
Supporters will meet at 1:30pm at Police Headquarters (750 Race St.)

PHILADELPHIA–Tania Chairez and Jessica Hyejin Lee, two undocumented youth arrested yesterday afternoon in front of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a civil disobedience action, will have court hearing today. Before their arrest, Tania and Jessica entered the ICE office building and presented a letter to Field Office Director Thomas Becker demanding the release of Miguel Orellana Garcia. Miguel is an undocumented youth who has been detained at York County Jail since July 2011, away from his two sons and fiancee.

Tania and Jessica were arrested by Philadelphia Police because ICE refused to respond and meet their demand. When undocumented immigrants get detained, their deportation process is initiated. “Tania and Jessica are very brave.” said Gabriela Alfaro, an undocumented youth who came out of the shadows for the very first time at the rally, “I was inspired by their action yesterday, and it empowered me to also come out and fight for my community.”

Friends will gather in support of these two brave undocumented women who are risking deportation after taking a stand against Miguel’s detention.

WHERE: Police Headquarters; 750 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
WHEN: Thursday, March 15th
TIME: 1:30PM
WHO: Members of DreamActivist Pennsylvania and supporters

Jessican And Tania Are Still in Jail: Donate to Bail Fund!

Yesterday, Jessica Hyejin Lee and Tania Chairez, two undocumented youth, were arrested by the Philadelphia Police after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office refused to respond and meet their demand: Release Miguel Orellana from detention.

Before their arrest, Jessica and Tania entered the ICE office building and declared their undocumented status. They demanded that Miguel Orellana Garcia, an undocumented youth, be released immediately so that, after 8 long months of being detained, he can be reunited with his two sons and fiancee.

Tania and Jessica took a stand for Miguel and our community, now we must stand beside them. Please donate $25 to help us get Tania and Jessica out of jail.

As undocumented people, we are taught to live in fear of being detained and deported. Tania and Jessica took action because they are tired of the constant abuse from ICE towards our community. This is not the end,  we will keep fighting until undocumented youth, like Miguel, get a real solution. As a community, we stick together and fight for each other! Please make a donation right now to help Tania and Jessica get out of jail!

Thanks for your support!

Undocumented Youth Arrested During Civil Disobedience Action in Philadelphia

What: Jessica Hyejin Lee and Tania Chairez, two undocumented youth, were arrested by the Philadelphia Police today after blocking the street in front of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office.  Before their arrest, Jessica and Tania had entered the ICE Philadelphia Field Office building and declared their undocumented status.  Unafraid of deportation, they acted to confront the unjust immigration system, reclaim their human rights, and [call attention to] the deportations that are tearing apart their communities.

When: Jessica and Tania were arrested and detained today at 4:10 p.m.

Where: ICE Philadelphia Field Office, 1600 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia PA 19130.

Who: Tania Chairez and Jessica HyeJin Lee, undocumented members of DreamActivist Pennsylvania.

Why: Undocumented youth and families are routinely arrested in Philadelphia and deported by ICE.  Shortly before their arrest, Tania and Jessica had presented a letter to ICE Philadelphia Field Office Director Thomas Decker demanding the release of Miguel Orellana, an undocumented youth who has been detained at York County Prison since July 2011.  Their request was ignored.

Cesar Marroquin, a member of DreamActivist Pennsylvania, stated, “Tania and Jessica were arrested today and risk deportation for standing up for our community and demanding that ICE stop separating families like Miguel Orellana’s. With their action, they hope to let undocumented youth know that they’re not alone and that, as a community, we stand up for each other and fight back against this unjust system together.”
